It’s not often you come across appliances (especially ones exposed to coastal rusting environments) lasting 20 years!
It’s not uncommon for Quantum to hear back or come across customers where our heat pumps are still operational after 10 to 15 years, but 20 years is worth celebrating, you’ll agree!
We got a phone call recently that the 340L Quantum heat pump that Andrew purchased in Dec 2004 was failing. It was leaking even though the system was still producing hot water.
The only problem he’d had with our unit up until now was a rattling noise coming from the compressor section after 10 years that he fixed himself (Not advised for warranty reasons of course) and never had a problem after that apart from typical wear and tear with rusting especially living near the beach.
Without any hesitation, trusting the quality and durability of Quantum Heat Pumps, Andrew ordered a replacement Compact 340 L unit which we there to witness the install by Zoran from Rad Plumbing.

After some quite meticulous plumbing work the new sexy silver Compact 340L unit was in place and connected.
Zoran chooses to only insulate the pipes with hot water going through it.
Flushes out the air trapped in the tank by opening all hot and cold-water outlets inside
Places the pressure limiting valve and draining pipe on the hot water only (Varied regulations in each state)
Replaces the pressure limiting and tempering valve regardless (Too much water pressure from mains can damage the heat pump and a need to limit the water temperature to the required regulated level for domestic water to prevent scolding)
Electrical Work
Next was some minor but important electrical work by a licensed sparky to get the heat pump electrically connected through a switch and separate RCD!
The heat pump DID NOT turn on when the power was first switched on.
"You sold me a Dud!" Said Andrew.
We forgot to inform him that a delay in the activation of heat pumps is quite normal.

About 3-4 hours later (mind you it was 10 p.m. by then) Andrew and his wife were able to enjoy a hot shower again.
